Wimbledon Tickets
Each year there is a public ballot for Wimbledon tickets. The closing date for the 2009 ballot has already passed. Tickets are made available to clubs affiliated to the LTA to sell to their members. Usually these are oversubscribed and the clubs themselves hold a ballot. The clubs have to account to the LTA as to who has bought the tickets.

A limited number of tickets (usually about 500) are made available to the public on the day for the main show courts. There are usually overnight queues for these tickets.

Admittance to the ground for about 6,000 people is also allowed on the day, with the opportunity to watch play on the outside courts, usually involving some of the lesser known players. Cost of Wimbledon ground tickets is cheaper after 5.00pm. Tickets are payable by cash only (no cheques or cards). Once in the grounds, you can queue in the ground for returned tickets for sale at a nominal price for Centre Court and Courts 1 & 2 or can watch play on the outside courts.

Time of Play
Play is scheduled to start at 1.00pm on Centre Court and Court One, on all days except Finals days. Play usually commences at midday on most days on the outside courts. In the event of bad weather causing a backlog, play may start earlier. There is no play on the middle sunday except where bad weather has severely affected the schedule.

You should be aware that there are strict controls on the reselling of tickets and you may find you don't get in if you buy tickets on the black market! Hospitality and ticket packages through recognised agents are often still available.
